After several years of hanging out on the sands of Daytona, I have a favorite beach. It seems to be the one that the locals frequent. I referred to it in my recent post, Lighthouse Park.
This link provides a map. http://volusia.org/parks/lighthouse.htm
In this picture, I have walked out to the end of the pier and I am looking back to the beach…check out the nasty jagged rocks…you do not want to fall in…
You will find fishing off the pier and you can look across the inlet to New Symrna Beach…
My favorite thing to hang out and watch is the kiteboarding…
This is the place where the local guys come and surf…
Doesn’t it look fun?
It is always a windy day out at this beach
I watch them suit up and then run to get the kite going…
Once they get up and rolling, it is surfing time.
See the harness strapped around him??
More surfing
I have not been able to find anyone willing to give me kitesurfing lessons in the Daytona area. The one thing that I have seen at this beach that I was not fortunate enough to capture on film was the ability of the surfers to stay airborne above the water…I have seen several of them jump up 10 feet above the water…
If you are looking for a great beach and would like to check out this surfers –head to Lighthouse Park Beach !!!
